\nThick as molasses and light as a sea breeze;
\nIt runs from your cracked edifice like a deluge
\nOf cold glances cast down lonely roads
\nCaught only by the spider\u2019s web
\nLeft to the whimsy of the wind;
\nBut theses white walls
\nWill not be washed clean of me.
\nNo bleach nor paint will draw me from the cracks
\nThat keep this house whole
\nBecause the fibers of the brick thatched roof
\nHas been slowly woven into me
\nThis macabre patchwork of my being
\nHas been interlocked like the roots
\nOf a mandrake that stretches out
\nLike a child’s hands
\nReaching out for the nightshade
\nNot knowing what this shadow will bring.
