Reach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A woman stands on the side of the road<br \/>\nNot on the side walk but not quite in the street<br \/>\nStanding on the gutter\u2019s front step<br \/>\nShe is motionless as cars streak past in a blur<br \/>\nThey do not stop for her, they don\u2019t even see her<br \/>\nAs she stands on the edge of their awareness<br \/>\nBut very much in the middle of her own mind<br \/>\nShe watches the cars as they past<br \/>\nYou can see her lips move but they make no noise<br \/>\nMaybe she is asking them to slow down<br \/>\nMaybe she is asking them to speed up<br \/>\nOr maybe she is asking for a prayer<br \/>\nTo save her soul for what she is about to do<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">She closes her eyes and takes a step away from the side walk<br \/>\nOne step closer to the street<br \/>\nOne step farther away from the world she once knew<br \/>\nThen another and another and still the cars don\u2019t stop<br \/>\nShe can no longer hear them<br \/>\nJust feel them as their tires reverberate on the blacktop<br \/>\nLike the hum of a hummingbird only inches from her ears<br \/>\nShe will not stop for them she has someone she must meet<br \/>\nShe is dancing with death, her feet flat on the ground<br \/>\nStill she keeps moving as the cars get closer and closer<br \/>\nAs she moves farther and farther away from the curb<br \/>\nUntil she is in the middle of the road<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">She turns and faces traffic and opens her eyes<br \/>\nTo a bright light encompassing her<br \/>\nFor a single moment she can feel God<br \/>\nShe opens her arms to embrace it with a soft smile<br \/>\nAs the car slams on its brakes and stops<br \/>\nOnly inches from her face<br \/>\nShe heaves a heavy sign not of fear but relief<br \/>\nShe lowers her arms slowly with a little smile on her face<br \/>\nThen turns away and begins to walk the other direction<br \/>\nContinuing her crusade across black top<br \/>\nWith the remembrance of the lights<br \/>\nThat had so recently filled her mind<br \/>\nShe held that little moment deep within her heart<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A moment where she and death almost touched hands<br \/>\nShe had seen him stretching out his long bony fingers<br \/>\nTo graze against her face, cool and smooth<br \/>\nOnly to be pulled away at the last moment<br \/>\nIt was also a moment<br \/>\nWhere she stood within arms reach of God<br \/>\nClose enough to brush her fingers against his outstretched palm<br \/>\nBoth stood on one side of the street<br \/>\nSeparated by cars, by busy people<br \/>\nUnaware of whom they were in the presence of<br \/>\nShe held both their hands for a moment<br \/>\nAnd walked away unscathed but with a new smile<br \/>\nThat held death and god on each corner<br \/>\nAs she walked away from that road<br \/>\nFrom one side walk to another<br \/>\nShe had met death and god<br \/>\nAnd walked away from
